Corkum, Freeman named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Sept. 25 - Oct. 1, 2023

Men's soccer defender Callum Corkum and women's soccer forward Cara Freeman have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending October 1, 2023.

 

Callum Corkum, a third year defender from Camperdown, NS is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week ending October 1, 2023.

Corkum made several key defensive plays in the Huskies 1-1 draw against the UNB REDS on Friday night, and was named Player of the Game.

Cara Freeman, a first year forward from Halifax, NS is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week ending October 1, 2023.

Over a pair of wins this weekend, Freeman scored three goals, added two assists and record five shots on goal in a crucial six point weekend for the Huskies.

In Friday night's 2-1 win over the UNB REDS, Freeman assisted on Allie Martin's game winning goal, and added two shots on goal.

In Saturday night's 6-2 win over the Moncton Aigles Bleues, Freeman scored three goals and added one assist.

On the season, Freeman ranks fourth in the AUS with six goals, and sixth with 10 points, and leads all first-year players in both statistical categories.
