Johnston and Freeman named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Aug. 26 - Sept. 1, 2024

Men's football kicker Adam Johnston and women's soccer forward Cara Freeman have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending September 1st, 2024.

Adam Johnston, a third year kicker from Rothesay, NB, is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Aug. 26 - Sept. 1, 2024.

Johnston hit five of six field goals and added two extra point conversions, scoring 17 of the Huskies points in a 41-33 win over the Acadia Axemen. Johnston hit a 47-yard field goal – the longest in the AUS this season – and added two field goals from 37-yards, a 31-yarder and 15-yarder.

Through two games, Johnston has made eight of nine field goals attempted, and both of his extra points. He leads the conference in field goals made (8 – next highest is 2), and points scored (26 – next highest is 11).

Cara Freeman, a second year forward from Halifax, NS, is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Aug. 26 - Sept. 1, 2024.

Freeman scored a penalty kick goal in the Huskies 4-1 loss to Memorial on Sunday. Over two games this weekend, Freeman played the full 180 minutes and recorded one goal and six shots on goal.
