Huskies take care of Panthers 93-64

(Halifax, NS)-- The U Sports No. 10 ranked Saint Mary's Huskies took care of business Saturday night, easily beating the UPEI Panthers 93-64 in AUS men's basketball action.

 

The Huskies jumped out to an early 28-17 lead after ten minutes and added to that lead in the second, outscoring UPEI 28-12 in the frame.

 

SMU took a 56-29 lead into the half.

 

Saint Mary's opened the second half outscoring the Panthers 23-18 and built a 79-47 cushion after thirty minutes.

 

UPEI outscored SMU 17-14 in the final frame.

 

Theon Reefer (Toronto, Ont.) paced all scorers with 22 points on 9-14 shooting for SMU, who improve to 4-2 on the year.

 

Ottawa's Dut Dut led UPEI with 13 points, who drop to 1-5 on the year.

 

Milorad Sedlarevic (Jesenice, Slovenia) and Shavon Gayle (Windsor, Ont.) each had 10 points for the Panthers while Halifax's Tyler Scott added nine points.

 

Marquis Clayton (Halifax, NS) added 17 points for the Huskies while Brian Rouse (Mississauga, Ont.) and Will Fiander (Halifax, NS) each had 10 points in the win. 

 

Saint Mary's visits 2-3 StFX November 26th, while UPEI hosts 4-1 Memorial November 26th-27th.

 

Tip-off for all games is 8 p.m.
