Huskies complete weekend sweep of Seahawks

(Halifax, NS) In AUS men's basketball action the Saint Mary's came out on top of the Memorial Seahawks 91-71 to sweep the weekend series.

 

Memorial lead 29-23 after the first quarter, but the Huskies clawed their way back and controlled the game after half.

 

For Memorial, third year forward, Nathan Baker (Massey Drive, NL) lead with 19 points and 7 rebounds.  Daniel Foo (St. John's, NL) added 15 points and 2nd year guard Jason Thompson (St. John's, NL) had 14. 

 

Scoring for SMU, 2nd year guard, Nikita Kasongo lead team scoring with 22 points and 6 rebounds.  Nico Brauner (Wiesbaden, Germany) had 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Rounding out the scoring for the Huskies.

 

In their final regular season home game, Saint Mary's head coach Jonah Taussig, honored four graduating seniors – Brent Martindale, Andre Ntivumbura, Nico Brauner and Kemar Alleyne

 

Subway player of the game was awarded to Nico Brauner.

 

The Seahawks host the Dalhousie Tigers for two next weekend and the Huskies travel to Fredericton to take on the 2nd place UNB Reds to end their regular season.
