Huskies Edge Aigles Bleus 3-2 to Advance to AUS Semi Finals

(Halifax, NS) Bradley Greene (Tilting, NL) scored the winning goal on a penalty shot at 12:41 of the third period as the Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the Universite De Moncton Aigles Bleus 3-2 in the third and deciding game of their AUS quarter final series at the Halifax Forum Saturday night at the Halifax Forum.

Greene's big tally garnered him Subway player of the game honours.

The Aigles Bleus opened the scoring when Jean-Francois Plante(Sherbrooke, QC) tallied at 2:46 to make the score 1-0 after the first period.

The Huskies answered back in the second, when 2nd year forward Mitchell Maynard (Cole Harbour, NS) potted a marker at 10:06 to tie the score at 1-1after two periods.

In the third, Moncton regained the lead when Danny Chiasson (Lameque, NB) scored at 8:17 to make it 2-1. The Huskies responded when 4th year defensemen, Michael D'Orazio (Richmond Hill, ON) notched a powerplay marker at 11:07 to even things up at 2-2.

The Huskies outshot the Aigles Bleus 42-23. Anthony Peters (Blyth, ON) made 21 saves to get the win in net for the Huskies and Brandon Thibeau (Riverview, NB) stopped 39 shots for the Aigles Bleus.

Saint Mary's will now face the Acadia Axemen, who had a bye through the quarterfinals, in the AUS semi finals. Dates and times for the best of 5 series have yet to be determined.
