Huskies net two late goals and knock off UPEI 2-0

(HALIFAX, NS)—The Saint Mary's Huskies scored two late goals to defeat the UPEI Panthers 2-0 Friday night at Huskies Stadium in AUS men's soccer action.

Midfielder Cian Tousignant-Osiadhail (Timberlea, NS) scored his second goal on the year in the 70th minute with defender Avery Senz (Elmsdale, NS) adding the assist.  Cian was named Subway player of the game.

Midfielder Raymond Crane (Ottawa, Ont.) put the Huskies up 2-0 in the 85th minute with his first goal on the year.

Saint Mary's outshot UPEI 12-5 and each team had two corner kicks apiece in the contest.

UPEI held a 5-2 save advantage and goalie Brett Strba (3-3-0) picked up the Panther loss.

Goalkeeper Chrisitan Oxner (Halifax, NS) made two saves in the win and improves his record to 2-4-1.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 2-4-1 and sit in seventh place with seven points while UPEI drops to 3-4-0 and have nine points.

Both teams return to action Sunday October 1st at 3:15 p.m. when the Huskies host Acadia at Huskies Stadium and  the Panthers visit the Cape Breton Capers.
