Huskies drop 1-0 decision to StFX

(HALIFAX, NS)—Dan Hayfield (Exeter, United Kingdom) scored his AUS leading ninth goal of the year in StFX's 1-0 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies on Sunday afternoon from Huskies Stadium.

Forward Natneal Tecle's (Calgary, AB) pass found Hayfield wide open two yards above the box and the midfielder made no mistake with his shot in the 58^th minute.

Both teams were even up to that point with each having three shots and one corner kick and save apiece in the first 45 minutes.

StFX took advantage in the second half and led in shots (8-2) and corner kicks (3-2).

SMU's goalie Christian Oxner (Halifax, NS) had four saves in the second half and finished with five in the loss while Thomas Pieroway (Conception Bay, NF) had two saves for StFX and improves to 4-1-2 with the win.

Defender John Read (Bath, England) was named Player of the Game for StFX.

Both teams return to action October 21^st-22^nd when X play host to Mount Allison (0-9-0) Saturday and Dalhousie (4-1-2, 14 points) Sunday while Saint Mary's hits the road and plays UNB (4-3-2, 14 points) Saturday and Moncton (3-5-0, 9 points) Sunday.

All matches are 3:15 p.m. while SMU v UNB October 21^st is 5:15 p.m.
