Alex Black nets 6 goals in Huskies win over MTA

(HALIFAX, N.S.)—The Saint Mary's Huskies took out their frustration from a 2-1 loss last night to Moncton, on the visiting Mount Allision 11-2 on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic University Sport men's soccer action from Huskies Stadium.

Alex Black (Halifax, NS) had six goals in the match and opened scoring in the 6th minute as SMU scored two more unanswered goals for a 3-0 halftime lead.

Black scored his fourth goal in the 49th minute, opening the flood gates in the second half.

Tyler Dorey (Cole Harbour, NS) recorded a hat-trick in eight minutes and added an assist in the match.

Cody Kroczynski (Regina, Sask.) and Everett Patterson (Moncton, NB) added goals for Mount Allison.

Abdoulaye Barry (Conakry, West Africa) and Fabian Perez (Bogota, Columbia) rounded out the SMU scoring.

SMU improves to 4-4-3 while Mount Allison drops to 0-10-o on the year.

Saint Mary's sits in the sixth and final AUS play-off spot with 15 points while Moncton sit in seventh place with nine points with one game in hand.

Both teams return to action next weekend with SMU visiting UPEI October 26 in their regular-season finale while Mount Allison hosts CBU October 28.

SMU needs just a single point to clinch the final playoff spot while Moncton needs to win outright versus Memorial (1-5-3) and Dal (6-2-2).

Cape Breton University hosts the 2018 Subway AUS Men's Soccer Championship November 1-4 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
