SMU's playoffs end with 2-0 semi-final loss to CBU

(Sydney, NS) - The Capers played their first game of the championship as they were matched up against the SMU Huskies.

The Huskies were feeling good after their overtime win against Dalhousie. The Capers however were well rested and ready to play coming out guns blazing firing on all cylinders. SMU keeper Jenson Brown (Enfeild, NS) made several diving saves. Most of the first half was the same with CBU playing great defence and not letting SMU shoot but a ball did get through and keeper Ben Jackson (Bury, UK) had to make a diving stop. CBU was by far the leader in shots, battling the wind and SMU fullbacks and there were a few chances by Corey Bent (Preston, UK) and Charlie Waters (Lancashire, UK) but they didn't find the back of the net so the half ended at a 0-0 draw.

The second half started with the Capers making a run into the SMU zone and after a scramble in front of the net Charlie Waters slowed the ball down and punched the ball past the keeper to give the Capers the 1-0 lead. Charlie was not the only Caper to get on the scoreboard because in the 55th minute Cory Bent (Preston, UK) used a great dribble move to get past the SMU defenders and get a great goal of his own to give CBU the 2 goal lead to really help their chances at moving on! In the 80th minute SMU keeper made another great save.

The most important thing to note from this game is how great the Capers defence was and it was all orchestrated by MVP of the league Peter Schaale (Bernkasterl-Kues, DE). The the final score ended up being 2-0 with the CBU Capers moving onto the finals on sunday!
