Track & Field - Opening Meet

The Saint Mary's Huskies Track and Field team opened their season this weekend at the Canada Games Center.

In his first race as a Huskie, Dominic Collie finished 3rd in the 60m with a time of 7.02 seconds. This impressive performance was also a qualifying time for the McGill Challenge. 

Also in their first competition as a Huskie, Ashley Murray finished 2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.17m. This jump also qualified Ashley for the McGill Challenge. Also in the triple jump, first year athlete Keely Shaw finished 4th with a jump of 9.78m. Shaw missed qualifying for the McGill Challenge by only 1cm.

In other performances, Greg Williams finished 3rd out of University runners in the 600m with a time of 1:27.64.  Rookie, Daylon Stitt-Williams finished 4th in the long jump with a jump of 5.98m.

All in all, this young Saint Mary's team started the season on the right foot. The team recorded numerous personal best and saw 17 athletes competed for the first time as part of the Huskies team.

The teams next meet will be on January 14th in Moncton for the UdeM Open.
