Peverill and Burke earn first place finishes

(Moncton, NB) In the first competition of 2019, the Saint Mary's Huskies travelled to Université de Moncton to compete in a 1-day meet.

Highlights of the meet included Andrew Peverill (Sackville, NS) and Bhreagh Burke (Halifax, NS) both reaching the team McGill standard, which will allow them to compete in Montreal at the McGill Team Challenge at the end of the month.

Peveril won the men's 1000m in a meet record of 2:31.55 and Burke won the women's 1500m in a new personal best time of 4:50.71.

Other results on the women's side, Ashley Murray placed 3rd in both the triple jump and 60m hurdles, while the Huskies 4x200m women's relay placed 2nd.

For the men, Stephen Goodyear placed 2nd in the 1000m, while in the men's 1500m, Jonathan Peveril and Kyle Caie placed 2nd and 3rd. Ryan Fraccaro (3000m) and Shedler Fervius (triple jump) each placed 2nd in their respective events and Jack Fader placed 3rd in the high jump.

The Huskies look ahead now to the upcoming weekend in Halifax where they will be competing at the Canada Games Centre on Friday and Saturday.
