Huskies win big over Tigers

(HALIFAX, N.S.)—Four players scored in double figures as the Saint Mary's Huskies defeated their cross-town rivals, the Dalhousie Tigers, 79-35 on Saturday evening in Atlantic University Sport women's basketball action from the Homburg Centre.

Chloe Wilson (Dartmouth, NS) led all scorers with 14 points in the loss for Dalhousie, who drop to 1-2 in conference play.

Alaina McMillan (Brantford, ON) paced the Huskies with 13 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the field, 2-for-4 from deep, and recorded six rebounds and two assists.

SMU started the game hot and had leads of 25-7 after 10 minutes and 43-17 at half.

Saint Mary's outscored Dal 18-8 in the third quarter and led 61-25 after thirty minutes.

An 18-10 final quarter for SMU saw the Huskies breeze to a 79-35 victory.

The Huskies improve to 2-2 in AUS play.

Chelsea Slawter-Wright (Dartmouth, NS) added eight points and nine rebounds for Dal.

Kendra MacKinnon (Pictou, NS) picked up a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for SMU, while teammates Clara Gascoigne (Dartmouth, NS) and Arianna Macias (Tampa, Flordia) each had 10 points.

Both teams return to action next week as Saint Mary's hosts StFX November on 13th while Dalhousie travels to UPEI November 15-16 weekend.
