Huskies women’s basketball announce commitment of guard Jenna Chateau

Saint Mary's Huskies women's basketball head coach Scott Munro is pleased to announce the commitment of guard Jenna Chateau for the 2024-25 season.

A 5'8 guard out of Orangeville Prep, Chateau has excelled in one of Canada's most competitive high school leagues, captaining her team to a 2024 OSBA Silver Medal. She was a Top 50 nominee to the prestigious 2024 Biosteel All-Canadian Game.

A Toronto, ON native, Chateau comes from a basketball family - her mother Danielle played varsity basketball at York University, her father Ray is the Director of Athletics and Recreation at Humber College, and her older sister Nicole currently suits up for the Humber Hawks women's basketball team.

Chateau is described as a playmaking and hard-nosed point guard, always looking to create for her teammates and work hard on both ends of the court.

"I am really excited to play with such a talented team and outstanding coaching staff," says Chateau.

Chateau previously played for Father John Redmond High in Etobicoke, ON, where she was named the 2023 team Most Valuable Player, leading her team and finishing 11th in OSBA in scoring, and was selected to the All-Ontario Showcase.

Over the past two seasons in OSBA, Chateau averaged over 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals per game.

Chateau also played club basketball with Hamilton Transway Juel, where she was a 2023 Juel Silver Medalist

"We are very excited to have Jenna Chateau join our program this fall," adds Huskies head coach Scott Munro. "Jenna is a very solid player with the ability to play on and off the ball at the guard spot. She is a very competitive player who defends and gets the ball to the right spots on offense. We are looking forward to all the intangibles Jenna will bring to our group."

Chateau will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's.

Chateau joins a Huskies Women's Basketball program that have won six AUS Champions, including back-to-back Championships in 2024 and 2023, and are three-time National Medallists (Silver: 2013-14, Bronze: 2015-16 & 2012-13).
