(Sackville, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties faced the nationally ranked # 3 Saint Mary's Huskies and were handed a 4-0 shutout at the Tantramar Veterans' Memorial Civic Centre in Sackville, NB Friday night.
The Huskies led 2-0 after the first period on goals by Siobhan Birch and Hannah Askin.
Caitlyn Manning stretched SMU's lead to 3 after 40 minutes.
Laura Polack added a final tally in the third.
Rebecca Weagle turned back all 21 shots on the Saint Mary's net to score the shutout.
Keri Martin (Toronto, ON) was charged with the loss but was still stellar turning back 46 of 50 shots on the Mountie crease.
The Mounties hit the road on Sunday for a tilt in Fredericton, NB versus the St. Thomas Tommies at 2pm at the capital's Grant Harvey Centre.
The Huskies are home at Alumni Arena Saturday night for their home opener vs the UPEI Panthers at 7 p.m.
