Head Coach Chris Larade earns 100th win, in 4-1 victory over UdeM

(Halifax, NS) In a Halloween showdown at the Halifax Forum, the Saint Mary's Huskies won their third straight in AUS women's hockey action, 4-1 over the visiting Aigles Bleues.

 

Moncton opened up the scoring early in the game, on a goal by Katryne Villeneuve to give them a 1-0 lead at 2:57 of the first.  SMU's Taylor Keeping (Hackett's Cove, NS), tied things up at 16:21 and the first period ended 1-1.

 

The second period remained even until the midway mark, when the team's leading scorer, Siobhan Birch (Mississauga, ON) gave the Huskies a one goal edge.  The 2nd half of the period remained scoreless and after two the Huskies lead 2-1.

 

The third period, saw many chances, but the scoring didn't happen until near the end of the frame.  Shae Demale (Red Deer, AB) put the Huskies up 3-1 at 17:57 and Taylor Keeping scored her second of the night at 19:34 to seal the deal for the Huskies and give them a 4-1 victory.

 

Ashley Forler turned away 25 shots and was named Subway Player of the game.  Moncton's goalie, Audrey Berthiaume had 29 shots on the night. 

 

With the win, head coach Chris Larade (8th season), reached 100 regular season wins. 

 

The Huskies travel to Fredericton to take on the UNB Reds Friday night and STU on Saturday.  Moncton hosts StFX Friday and UPEI on Saturday.
