Demale and Birch score two a piece in 5-2 win over UdeM

MONCTON – Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (11-14-1=23pts, 6th place) scored on their first two shots of the game, but then Saint Mary's University Huskies (16-9-1=33pts, 3rd place) took over for a 5-2 win on Saturday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game.

Maëlle Rioux (Elizabeth Tremblay, Katryne Villeneuve) and Janelle Graham (unassisted) provided the local team's offense, within one minute and 30 seconds. The Huskies then took control to score the next five goals. Shae Demale and Siobhan Birch each had two and Taylor Gravelle, one. Ashley Forler blocked 17 shots for the win, including only 4 in each of the first two periods. Audrey Berthiaume was busy with 33 shots, including 13 in the first period. Saint Mary's was 0 for 3 on the power play and Moncton, 0 for 6.  

The Huskies sit in third place, two points behind Stfx.  In their last two regular season match ups, they host Dalhousie on Friday night and Mount Allison on Sunday afternoon.

Moncton has a single point ahead of Dalhousie University Tigers (10-14-2=22pts, 7th position) for the sixth and final playoff qualifier, with two games left to play. UNB Reds (13-9-4=30pts, 4th place) will be at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena on Wednesday evening.
