The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the Moncton Aigles Bleues 3-1 on Saturday night at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena on the Université de Moncton campus.
The Huskies snapped the Aigles Bleues five game winning streak, thanks in part to two first period goals.
Forward Kara MacLean (Antigonish, NS) struck first, as Mary McDonald (Calgary, AB) dished a pass in front of the goal, and MacLean fired it home to give the visitors a 1-0 lead just 2:36 into the first period.

The Aigles Bleues answered on a goal from Shani Rossignol (Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB), but the Huskies restored their lead when forward Shae Demale (Red Deer, AB) dispossessed a Moncton player and broke away on goal, firing a wrist shot past Aigles Bleues goaltender Annick Boudreau (Memramcook, NB) to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead, 8:20 into the first period.

There were no goals in the middle period as the two goaltenders, Boudreau and Ridleigh Hansen of the Huskies, faced few shots.
In the third period, Huskies forward Erin Denny (Eskasoni, NS) scored off a nice feed from defenceman Maddy Corbett (Sydney, NS), for the insurance goal, and the Huskies 3-1 lead would stand.

The game gave a limited number of shots, 16 for Moncton and 15 for Saint Mary's, with Hansen stopping 14 shots for the win. The Huskies were 0-for-1 on the power play and the Aigles Bleues were 0-for-7.
Saint Mary's forward Shae Demale was named Subway Player of the Game with her team-leading 13th goal of the season, and ranks second in the conference in both goals (13) and points (24).
The Huskies win improves their record to 11-6-1 on the campaign, with 23 points putting them in third place in the AUS standings. The Huskies will return to home-ice on Friday, as they host the UPEI Panthers, with puck-drop at 7 p.m. GET TICKETS
The Aigles Bleues loss dropped their record to 7-11-0 on the season. They'll next head to Sackville, N.B. to take on the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday night.
