CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI - Huskies Kara MacLean and Marisa McClocklin each scored a second period goal, leading Saint Mary's to a 2-1 win over the UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport Women's Hockey action on Sunday afternoon in Charlottetown.
The Huskies third straight win over the past week moves them into third place in the AUS Standings with eight regular season games remaining.
Neither team scored in the first period, but the Huskies opened the second period on a power play and executed it to perfection. At 1:10, Abigail Mackenzie sent a pass across to Kara MacLean, who found the top right corner with a wrist shot.

Down two heading into the third period, the Panthers put together another strong 20 minutes and once again outshot their opponent, but were unable to beat Huskies goaltender Ridleigh Hansen, who made 25 saves on the day including stopping a breakaway attempt from Panthers forward McKinley Nelson.
Hansen was 24 seconds away from her second shutout of the weekend, when Panthers forward Ruby Loughton scored a goal with the extra attacker to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Huskies held on for their third consecutive victory.
Hansen finished the game with 25 saves, while Forsythe turned aside 13 shots.
The Huskies win improves their record to 12-5-1-2 on the campaign. They'll continue their road swing on Wednesday night, as they visit the Mount Allison Mounties (2-15-2-1) in Sackville, NB with puck-drop at 7 p.m.
The Panthers third straight loss drops record to 5-13-0-2 on the season. UPEI will be back on home ice next weekend, hosting the STFX X-Women (15-3-0-2) on Friday and St. Thomas Tommies (10-6-2-2) on Sunday.
