With six minutes gone in the second period, Huskies forward Kara MacLean (Antigonish, NS) walked across the blue line and fired a shot through traffic that was deflected by Jillian Duggan (Halifax, NS) into the back of the net, extending the Huskies lead to 4-0.

Seconds later, Huskies defender Allie Barter (Hammonds Plains, NS) fired a crafty slap-pass from the blue line that was tipped by forward Abby McCarthy (Brooklin, ON) past McDonald, making it 5-0 Huskies.

Halfway through the second period, Mounties goalie McDonald stopped back-to-back odd-man rushes from the Huskies, keeping the score 5-0.

With four minutes left to play in the second period, the Huskies went onto a five-on-three powerplay opportunity. The Mounties successfully killed off both their penalties, with McDonald making key saves.

The Huskies outshot the Mounties 30-9 through in the second period, with the Huskies leading 5-0 heading into the intermission.

Three minutes into the third period, McDonald made back-to-back big saves on Huskies forwards O'Neill and Cant to keep the score 5-0.

Huskies capitalize on another powerplay opportunity, with Cant tipping a pass between her legs across the crease to forward Charlotte Buffie (Winnipeg, MB), who scored the Huskies sixth goal of the game.

Halfway through the third period, Mounties forward Dallis Mackenzie (Trenton, ON) had a breakaway opportunity, she tried to tuck it under the pad of Imlach, but the Huskies goaltender stood firm.
