(Halifax, NS)--Second half goals 14 minutes apart saw the Mount Allison Mounties defeat the host SMU Huskies 2-0 Saturday afternoon in AUS women's soccer action.
A 0-0 first-half saw both teams with four shots each and Mount Allison goalie Tessa Ritchie (Ottawa, ON) had three of her seven saves on the afternoon.
Huskies' rookie-keeper Samantha Sarty (New Germany, NS), made two first-half saves and finished with four.
Katherine Ollerhead (Wood Point, NB) scored a left-footed shot to the opposite corner in the 57th minute giving the Mounties a 1-0 lead.
A Saint Mary's foul in their own box gave Pascale Haidar and MTA a penalty-shot. The Halifax native put Mount Allison up 2-0 in the 71st minute.
Mary Bennett (Vernon, BC) and Jamie Kennedy (Fall River, NS) each had two shots on goal for SMU.
Mount Allison outshot SMU (10-8), had more corner kicks (8-6) and saves (7-4).
The Mounties improve to 1-2-0 3pts and host CIS- No. 8 CBU Capers 3-0-0 9pts Sunday at 1pm.
