Axe women win 5-0 over visiting Huskies

WOLFVILLE, N.S. - The Axewomen soccer team improve to 5-0-1 with a convincing 5-0 win over the visiting Saint Mary's Huskies.

Kinsella Noseworthy Smith (Wolfville, N.S.) netted the two opening goals in the first half. The first unassisted goal came at the 30 minute mark and six minutes later Noseworthy Smith followed with her second of the game and sixth of the season. Noseworthy Smith, named the Subway Player of the Game, leads the AUS in goals scored.

The Axewomen kept the pressure in the Saint Mary's end with nibble passing and strong defense in the mid-field.

Third year striker Jenna Howell (Dartmouth, N.S.) scored Acadia's third goal in the opening minute of the second half, assisted by Noseworthy Smith.

2015 AUS Most Valuable Player, Meaghan Earle (Mt. Pearl, Nfld.) scored her fourth goal of the season 10 minutes into the second frame and Jenna Boudreau (Halifax, N.S.) ended the second half scoring spree with her first goal of the season and third in her two year career with the Axewomen.

Saint Mary's hosts visiting UNB on Saturday afternoon, while the Axewomen visit Dalhousie on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
