Scoring chances were few and far between, as the UPEI Panthers and Saint Mary's Huskies ended in a nil-nil stalemate Saturday afternoon in Charlottetown.

For the Panthers (0-2-1), it's their first point of season, while the Huskies (1-1-1) are up to four points in the early going.

UPEI had a chance to pull ahead in the 28th minute when a corner kick was sent to Rachel Green, who headed it over the net.

Patrycia Kozak had an opportunity to put her team ahead in the 41st minute when she sprung free of a defender but lost the race to the ball, as keeper Kaitlyn Alley dove on the loose ball and secured it with her body.

With the wind behind their backs, the Huskies controlled the pace of the game in the second half. At the 50-minute mark, a Saint Mary's corner kick went through the box, but the Huskies were unable to get a touch on it allowing the Panthers to clear it to safety.

Their best chance came in the 67th minute when Anelise Karakostas started a beautiful give-go with a teammate leading to a break away, where the fourth-year midfielder chipped a shot over the net that kept the game scoreless.

Goalkeeper Veronica Kozak finished with a game-high five saves, while Alley recorded three the other way.

The Panthers welcome the St. FX X-Women for a Sunday afternoon tilt, while the Huskies travel to Sackville, N.B. to take on the Mount Allison Mounties at 1 p.m.
