WOLFVILLE, NS – The Acadia Axewomen had five separate players find the back of the goal in Friday night's home opener as they picked up a 5-1 victory over the visiting Saint Mary's Huskies.
Georgia Hamnett opened the scoring early in the match for the home squad, beating Grace Morrison (Halifax, NS) in the fourth minute.
Acadia went ahead by a pair on Abby Girard's 16th minute tally, which was matched in the 31st minute by Saint Mary's Allie Martin (Halifax, NS).

To finish the opening half Abbey Aucoin gave the Axewomen their two-goal lead back.
Grace Longley and Alli Kelly added two more for Acadia in the second half.
Milena Ramirez made seven saves in the win, while Morrison made six saves in the loss.
Acadia (1-0-0) travel to Charlottetown on Sunday to face the UPEI Panthers (1-0-0), while Saint Mary's (0-1-0) has an extended stretch away from the pitch, with their next match Sunday, Sept. 10 at StFX.
