Kuto leads runners at StFX Interlock Meet

Saturday, October 11th, 2014 marked the last cross country race before the AUS Cross Country Championships hosted by Saint Mary's University on October 25th. The St. F. X. Interlock saw the largest number of entries of any of the AUS races this season. On the men's side, 14 teams participated in the 8km race while 12 teams participated in the women's 6km race. Both the RESQ and AUS conferences were in attendance.

On the women's side, McGill athlete Jullien Flynn was the first overall finisher in a blistering time of 21:40.6. Ellen Chappell of Dalhousie was the first AUS finisher and was third overall. Meghan Clarke was the first Huskie to cross the finish line in a personal best 6km time of 24:08.65 followed by teammates Monique Muise and Grace Barnhart.
 
On the men's side, it was Charles Philibert-Thiboutot of Laval University who dominated the 8km race in a time of 25:18. Philibert-Thiboutot was 19 seconds ahead of teammate Benjamin Raymond. Scott Donald of St. F. X was the first AUS finisher across the line and was 3rd overall in a time of 25:44. John Kuto was the first Huskie to cross the finish in 26:03 followed by Jonathan Peverill and Angus MacDonald. Kuto, Peverill and MacDonald have consistently been the top three finishers for the Saint Mary's Huskies this season.

Next up for the Huskies is the AUS Championships on October 25th in Point Pleasant Park. The women's 6km race will start at 12:00 while the men's 10km race will follow at 12:45. Come out to cheer on your Huskies.
