Acadia Invitational Results, September 17

(Wolfville, NS)  The men's and women's Cross Country Huskies opened the 2016 season Saturday at Acadia with some promising performances from their rookies and veterans alike on a technical and challenging course.

In the women's 5k race, second year Samantha Fader was first across the line for the team in 21:19 placing her in the top ten overall. First year Paige Roszak was second for the Huskies in 22:26, and first year Leila Zaki came in third for the team with a time of 23:25. Jessica Hinkka, Georgina Beeden, and Jane D'Souza rounded out the rest of the Huskies roster in the women's race. Saint Mary's alumnus and Cross Country assistant coach, Ashley Ryer, won the women's 5k race.

In the men's 6k race, third year Jonathan Peverill lead the Huskies across the finish line with a sixth place overall finish and a 22:38 clocking. First year Christopher Lee was second for the team in 24:30, and first year Stephan "the Rube" Goodyear was third for the team in 25:21. Cameron Taylor and Andrew Herold rounded out the rest of the Huskie roster for the race. Memorial's Matthew Power won the men's 6k race.

Next week the Cross Country Huskies head to Moncton where the women will race 6k and the men will race 8k.
