U Sports Cross Country Championships

(Laval, PC)  On Saturday November 12th, the USports Cross Country Championships were held on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City. With the largest and most competitive fields ever assembled at a USports Championship, two Huskies represented the maroon and white with pride.

Battling with near-zero degree weather and strong winds on the hilly Plains of Abraham, Samantha Fader and Jonathan Peverill went shoulder to shoulder with some of best university runners in the country.

In the women's race, Samantha capped off her season with a 142nd place finish in the large field of 162 runners, finishing the 6km's in 25:28. With her first season of wearing the maroon and white complete, we are sure to see Samantha keep on improving and representing the Huskies for years to come.

The individual winner of the USports Championships was Claire Sumner of Queen's University while the University of Guelph won their 12th consecutive national title.

In the men's race, Jonathan capped off his season with a 101st place finish in the field of 162 runners, finishing the 10km's in a personal best  time of 33:55. This was the first national championships for Peverill and we look forward to seeing him improve on his placing over the next couple years.

The individual winner of the USports Championships was Yves Sikubwabo of the Université Laval, leading the Rouge et Or to their first national title.

Congratulations to Samantha and Jonathan on representing the Huskies proudly at the championships!
