Local Runner Bhreagh Burke will be Attending Saint Mary’s this fall

The Saint Mary's Cross Country and Track & Field teams are delighted to welcome and announce the commitment of local runner Bhreagh Burke to the Cross Country and Track and Field teams beginning this fall.

Bhreagh will be graduating from J.L. Ilsley at the end of June and will be studying in the Bachelor of Arts program. According to Burke, she has "wanted to attend Saint Mary's since [she] was a young girl [and remembers] practicing on the field with City Soccer and dreaming about attending the institution once graduating high school".

Most recently, Bhreagh competed at the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federations (NSSAF) Provincial Championships that were held in Sydney, Nova Scotia and placed 2ndin both the 1500m and 3000m events. Despite losing her shoe 200m into the 3000m race, Bhreagh was able to capture a personal best performance in a time of 10:49.67. This race has claimed a special status as being her fondest racing memory to date.

Head Coach Kevin Heisler comments that "Bhreagh is a mentally tough and hardworking runner who is a welcome addition to the Huskies women's program. Her work ethic and leadership skills will make her teammates better athletes and help attract future runners to Saint Mary's."

Welcome to the family Bhreagh!
