AUS Cross Country Invitationals - hosted by UPEI and Montreal

(Saturday, October 12th) The AUS cross country schedule was split between meets hosted by UPEI and Montreal.  The Huskies competed in both invitationals.

Universite de Quebec Montreal played host to the annual AUS-RSEQ Interlock race. The Huskies were represented by Andrew Peverill, Joe Stewart, Ryan Fraccaro and Kyle Caie. A large competitive field of runners took to Parc Maisonneuve next to the Olympic Stadium, with representation from universities in the AUS, RSEQ, OUA and NCAA. Peverill was the top performer for the Huskies finishing in a very respective 7th position, covering the 8km distance in a time of 25:16. Stewart was the next Huskie to cross the line, finishing 55th in an excellent time of 27:17. Fraccaro (28:05) and Caie (28:42) rounded out the squad, finishing in 77th and 100th respectively out of the 174 athletes.

Racing in Charlottetown for the Huskies, were Alex Whynacht, Sarah Polak, Gael Cameron, Lauren Doucet, Emma Parsons and Nursultan Sulaimanov. The women's team finished 3rd with a score of 63 points, behind Acadia with 19 points and Moncton with 56 points. SMU was led by Alex Whynacht in 17th position, followed closely by Polak and Cameron. Doucet and Parsons rounded out the squad, finishing in 24th and 26th respectively. Sulaimanov was the lone male competitor for the Huskies, placing 20th in the men's 8km race.

Next up for the Huskies is the 2019 Subway AUS Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 26th in Fredericton at the Kingswood Golf Course. The men and women will both be racing equal distances (8km) for the first time in AUS championship history. The women's race start is at 12:00pm followed by the men's race at 12:45pm.
