Coxhead, Bell named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Nov. 14-20

Men's hockey forward Andrew Coxhead and women's volleyball outside hitter Olivia Bell have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Nov. 14-20.

Andrew Coxhead, a second year forward out of Bedford, N.S., is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Nov. 14-20.

Coxhead recorded two goals and 10 shots over three games last week, with the Huskies winning two. In Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Acadia Axemen, Coxhead scored a powerplay goal to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead, and recorded three shots on goal. In Friday's 8-4 loss to the UPEI Panthers, Coxhead scored a goal and recorded a team-high five shots on goal. He also registered two shots on goal during the Huskies 4-1 win over St.FX on Wednesday.

The pair of wins improved the Huskies record to 8-6 on the campaign. Coxhead ranks second on the Huskies in goals (8), and third in points (11) and shots (40). 

Olivia Bell, a fourth year outside hitter from Lahave, N.S. is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Nov. 14-20.

During this weekend's AUS League Tournament in St. John's, NL, Bell helped lead the Huskies to a 2-1 record. In Friday's loss to Acadia, Bell led the Huskies with 11 points and nine kills, and added five digs, two blocks, one service ace and one assist. In Saturday's win over UNB, Bell posted a game-high 15 kills, 20 points and five blocks, and added seven digs, one assist and one service ace. In Sunday's win over Memorial, Bell again led all players with 14 kills and 16 points, and added nine digs, one assist, one service ace and one block.

The pair of wins improved the Huskies record to 5-3 on the campaign. On the season, Bell leads the Huskies and ranks second in the AUS in kills (124), kills per set (4.0), total attacks (322), points (145) and points per set (4.7).
