Zinck-Marier & Scully named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Jan. 12-18, 2026
Men's track & field sprinter Chandler Zinck-Marier and women's hockey goaltender Sophie Scully have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending January 18, 2026.

Chandler Zinck-Marier, a third year sprinter from Pleasantville, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Jan. 12-18, 2026
At Saturday's Athletics Nova Scotia Open, Zinck-Marier won the 60m with a personal best time of 6.98 seconds. It was Zinck-Marier's first solo win in his varsity Track & Field career, and he broke the seven-second barrier for the first time, ranking him 3rd in the AUS standings.
A dual-sport athlete, Zinck-Marier is in his second season competing with the Huskies Track team, following the Huskies Football season where he helped the Huskies win the AUS Loney Bowl Championship, and was named a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian and AUS All-Star returner.
Zinck-Marier and the Huskies are back on the track on Jan. 30 & 31, as they travel to Saint John, NB to compete in the Athletics New Brunswick University Invitational.

Sophie Scully, a fourth year goaltender from Ottawa, ON, is the Huskies female athlete of the week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Jan. 12-18, 2026
Scully helped lead the Huskies to a pair of big road wins, turning away 62 of 66 shots faced for a .940 save percentage.
In Saturday's 5-2 win over UPEI, Scully stopped 35 shots for the win.
In Sunday's 4-2 win over Moncton, Scully turned away 27 shots for the win.
On the season, Scully has started 10 games, sporting a 4-5-0-1 record, and ranks second in the AUS in save percentage (93.6%), and fourth in goals against average (1.80).
The pair of Huskies wins has them back in the playoff picture with a 9-8-0-3 record through 20 games played. Saint Mary's will hit the road this weekend, visiting the STFX X-Women on Friday and the Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday.
