Offensive Player of the Week

STFX running back Malcolm Bussey is the AUS Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 16, 2022.

Bussey, a second-year human kinetics student from Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, scored two touchdowns in the X-Men's 46-11 win over the Acadia Axemen on Saturday. He scored a 42-yard touchdown in the first quarter and a 44-yard touchdown in the second quarter, earning Subway Player of the Game honours for his standout offensive efforts. Bussey had 11 carries for 191 total yards in the game, averaging 17.4 yards/rush; he also had one reception for three yards. He continues to lead the AUS in rushing (120.2 yards/game) and is also the touchdown leader, with seven.

Saint Mary's defensive back Ryan Butler is the AUS defensive player of the week for the week ending October 16, 2022. 

A commerce student from Mississauga, Ontario, Butler helped lead the Huskies to a 21-13 win over the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday. His interception and 72-yard return to the end zone tied the game at 10-10 in the third quarter and earned him Subway Player of the Game status. He added five tackles and had the game-sealing pass breakup in the end zone as the Mounties were driving late in the game. Through five games played, Butler is tied for most interceptions (3) in the AUS, leads the conference in interception return yards (84) and leads the Huskies in total tackles (20.5).

Special Teams Player of the Week

Saint Mary's kicker Ethan Nagler is the AUS Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of October 16, 2022.

A science student from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Nagler helped lead the Huskies to a 21-13 win over the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday. The second-year player made two field goals—from 42 and 40 yards—and added two extra points and rouge for nine total points on the night. Nagler also punted six times for 254 yards, including two punts inside the Mount Allison 20-yard line. On the season, Nagler leads the AUS in extra points made at a perfect 9/9.
