Bio

Gord was born and raised in Halifax and attended Queen Elizabeth HS. He played university football at Acadia and St Francis Xavier. He returns to the Huskies after spending the past 10 years coaching at Citadel High School in Halifax helping to guide them to 8 championships. Also, during that time Gord coached with the National U19 program helping to guide the 2018 team to a World Championship win over Mexico.

Gord is no stranger to AUS football as he has been coaching in the conference since 1993, beginning at St Francis Xavier, where he helped coach the X-Men to the 1996 Vanier Cup final. Gord joined the Huskies in 1998 under Blake Nill and Steve Sumarah and help build a dominant program resulting in four Vanier Cup appearances and two wins in 2001 and 2002. Gord took a break from coaching in 2004 to complete a master’s degree in education and returned with Steve Sumarah in 2006. Another Vanier Cup appearance during that 5-year run with Sumarah. Gord earned the Phil Hughes Award in 1999.

Gord is a has been teaching for 31 years. He has taught in HRM for over 26 years. He started his teaching and coaching career in Mississauga and Brampton at Father Michael Goetz SS.

Gord has a BA and B.ED from St Francis Xavier and a Masters of Education degree from Mount Saint Vincent University.
