Sammy Wood is entering his 25^th year with Huskies Football. Since his first year of Varsity Football hydration in 1998 he has become the quintessential soul of the team. Hailing from parts unknown, he dispenses his witty wisdom through whimsical anecdotes and impressions. Sam lives with the most amazing mother Beverly, who champions her son through all his sporting accomplishments such as being a Special Olympian and a floor hockey phenom. Though humble and generous with an “Ahaaa” or “Housekeeping” call, he has never been anything but completely devoted to the Huskies Football program. Sammy’s hydration duties have helped many players reach the CFL and he proudly wears any gear they send his way!

Sammy takes great pride in firing up the team at practices and games and especially enjoys breaking down the O-Line.Every Huskie who comes back to SMU for a visit always asks about Sammy first. He is and has been the most reliable bannerman of SMU’s spirit, dedication and playing the sport of Football “Together”. Sam exemplifies what it means to be a Huskie. And like the school motto goes “Age Quod Agis”, what you do do it well.

In the off season, he enjoys watching wrestling, daily walks in the North End with his mom Bev, hanging out with his cat Houdini, and going to wing night with Laura and the boys.
