Huskies overcome a first half deficit to defeat the Capers 100-80

Sydney, NS - The Saint Mary's Huskies put up 41 points in the third quarter en route to a 100-80 win against the Cape Breton University CAPERS. For CBU, Indiana Rotondo (Vaughan, ON) led the team with 16 points, 12 of those came in the first half, while Kyle Hankins (Burlington, ON) recorded 13 of his 15 points in the second half. For the Huskies, Osman Barrie (Ottawa, ON) had himself another big game, scoring a game-high 24 points with 10 rebounds.

 

Turning point - The CAPERS never trailed in the first half, leading 39-34 going into the break. But the Huskies came out firing in the third, outscoring the home team 41-19 in the frame, which included Kaleel Faiz (Toronto, ON) hitting all 3 of his 3 point attempts.

 

Individual Leaders

  • Osman Barrie led the way again offensively for Saint Mary's, scoring 24 points with 10 rebounds, giving him 2 double-doubles in as many nights
  • Kemar Alleyne (Scarborough, ON) had 15 points, and added 7 rebounds and 3 steals
  • Indiana Rotondo was the top point getter for the CAPERS, scoring 16
  • SMU outscored CBU 41-19 in the 3rd quarter
