Peters gets shutout as Huskies top Varsity Reds 2-0

)Halifax, NS) The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the UNB Varsity Reds 2-0 Saturday night at the Halifax Forum, before a crowd of 650.

Subway player of the game Anthony Peters (Blyth, ON) made 39 saves to get the shutout for the Huskies.

Bradley Greene, 3rd year forward from (Tilting, NFLD) netted both goals for the Huskies and Francis Menard (Embrun, ON) had two assists to lead the critical offensive boost for Saint Mary's.  Forward Stephen MacAulay, Halifax, NS  also added an assist on the first goal for the Huskies.

The Varsity Reds outshot the Huskies 39-20, 18 – 7 first period, 9-3 in second and 12 – 10 in third, but the Huskies were able to shut down the power play and control the game.

Saint Mary's opened the scoring at 13:58 of the first period to give Saint Mary's a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.  Both teams went scoreless in the second period.  The Huskies scored late in the third, when Greene tallied again to seal the victory.
 
Philippe Maillet (Lachenaie, NB) had 7 shots on goal and Cameron Critchlow (Fredericton, NB) had 4 shots for UNB.

David Shantz (Hamilton, ON) had 18 saves in net for the Varsity Reds.

The Huskies' are on the road next weekend when they travel to PEI on October 31 to face the UPEI Panthers at 7:00 pm in Charlottetown. The Varsity Reds will also travel on the  31st when they face off against the Saint Francis Xavier X-Men at 7:00 pm in Antigonish.
