Huskies earn 3-2 OT win over UdeM

(Moncton, NB) A goal by Subway player of the game Nick Welsh, at 21 seconds of the overtime period, lifted the Saint Mary's University Huskies (13-10-0=26pts, 3rd position) to a 3-2 win over Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (9-8-6-0=24pts, 4th position) Friday in an Atlantic University Sport men's hockey game in front of over 465 spectators at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

The Acadia University Axemen (17-5-1-0=35pts, 2nd position) play at the J.-Louis-Lévesque tonight (Saturday) against the Blue and Gold. The Huskies are in Fredericton to play the UNB Reds.

Mitchell Balmas, on the power play in the first period and Logan DeNoble, during the second, scored in regulation time for the visitors. Joey Richard (Michael Kemp, Jeremy Hannah), in the second and Maxime St-Cyr (Robbie Graham, Samuel Guilbault), at 7:06 of the third with the equalizer, got the Moncton markers. Xavier Potvin had 37 saves for the win and Étienne Montpetit, 33 in a losing cause. Saint Mary's was 1 for 3 on the power play and Moncton, 0 for 3. Saint Mary's took 16 shots in each of the two first periods and only 3 in the third.
