Bio

Erik is in his second year as the head strength & conditioning coach for Saint Mary's University. He has been working at Saint Mary's since the summer of 2018 and heads up strength and conditioning for the varsity programs such as Men's Hockey, Football, Basketball, as well as Women's Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, and Rugby. Erik is a Kinesiology graduate from Acadia University and a former varsity football player, who found his passion for high performance both on the field as an athlete and in the weight room. Erik formerly worked for the Canadian Sports Centre Atlantic, the home base of local Provincial, National and Olympic athletes. Erik is a certified strength & conditioning coach through the national strength and conditioning association (NSCA) as well as an exercise physiologist through the Canadian society for exercise physiology (CSEP). 

 

Erik focuses on guiding athletes to find the passion and dedication to train and achieve their highest level of performance. He focuses on providing an individualized approach to athletes by understanding their needs and molding programs to address those needs using thoughtful coaching, best practices, and technology. He pays particular attention to injury prevention and rehabilitation, working closely with Saint Mary's all-star athletic therapy team.

 

While Erik is not at work, he is at Dalhousie University completing his Master's of Kinesiology in Biomechanics. Erik also heads up the Hockey High-Performance program for elite Hockey athletes, as well as the Huskies Performance Training program for athletes of all sports and levels.
