AUS Track & Field Championships - Kali Gee with silver in pole vault

(Moncton, NB) The Saint Mary's Huskies competed in the final track and field meet of the year in Moncton, NB, at the AUS Track and Field Championships. This was a record year for the Championships with over 240 athletes competing for 10 of the 11 AUS schools. 

Top performances for the championships included a silver medal by Kali Gee with a personal best in the pole vault of 2.15m, Ashley Murray with a fourth-place finish in the female triple jump with a personal best of 10.35m, DeAndre Smith with a fifth-place finish in the men's long jump in a personal best of 6.34m, Jonathan Peverill in the men's 1000m with a fifth-place finish in a personal best of 2:34 and the men's 4x800 team with a fourth-place finish.

Personal bests for the weekend included Gabby Walthers in the female shot put with a top 8 throw of 8.90m and a weight throw of 9.05m, Chiedozie Nkwonta in the men's 60m in 7.52, Matthew Smith in the men's heptathlon with a combined score of 2809, Hilary Richardson in the female shot put with a throw of 8.68m, Sarah Munroe in the female shot put of 7.07m, Christopher Pye with in the men's 60m hurdles in 9.85 and Cameron Taylor in the men's 3000m in 9:59.

Special consideration goes to the graduating Huskies: Greg Williams, Cameron Taylor and Blessing Nwaigwe.
