Huskies compete in McGill Open Meet
(Montreal) Eight members of the track & field team represented the Huskies on the weekend in Montreal at the McGill Team Challenge.
Known as one of the largest meets in Canada, the Huskies faired well against some stiff competition.
In the men's 1500m, Andrew Peverill closed hard on the last lap to finish 4th overall in a time of 3:50.59. Also racing was Kyle Caie (4:00.30), Jonathan Peverill (4:03.08), Stephen Goodyear, who smashed his personal best crossing the line in 4:09.24, and Joe Stewart (4:14.32). Stewart also raced the 3000m finishing in a time of 9:09.37.
In the both the women's 1500m and 3000m, Bhreagh Burke ran two new personal bests with a 4:46.51 in the 1500m and a huge personal best in the 3000m with a 10:22.57.
Also on the women's side representing the Huskies was Ashley Murray, who tied her personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.20 and a jumped 10.41m in the triple jump.
Jack Fader competed for the Huskies in the men's heptathlon, competing in the 7 events over the two days of competition. Fader secured a personal best in the event scoring 3461 points and ran personal bests in the hurdles and 1000m.
In the men's 1000m, the Huskies were represented by Andrew Peverill (2:28.09), Jonathan Peverill, Kyle Caie and Stephen Goodyear, who all ran personal best times of 2:30.72, 2:32.69 and 2:36.10 respectively.
The Huskies now look forward to hosting their home meet, the SMU Open, on Sunday, February 10th at the Canada Games Centre.
