Peverill wins men's 1000m as Huskies track and field have successful weekend at REDS Invitational

The Saint Mary's Huskies men's and women's track and field teams had their long-awaited return to competition this weekend as they took to Saint John, New Brunswick for the Reds University Invitational.

Highlights from the meet included several personal best performances from eleven different athletes; Eric Wall (60m), Lily Wylie (60m/300m), Cate Majury (300m), Maddie Murphy (600m), Eli Ford (1000m), Rory McGarvey (Mile), Teagan Scott (Mile/3000m), Joe Stewart (Mile), Gael Cameron (Mile/3000m), Jason Smith (Shot Put) as well as Emily Batt in the Shot Put event of the Pentathlon.

Andrew Peverill was unleashed in the men's 1000m event, on top of winning the event he ran the auto-qualifying standard to compete at the U SPORTS Championships being hosted by UNB next month!

Other victories included the men's 4x200m men's team consisting of Dante Isadore, Jeffrey Smith, Jaden Storry-Trefry and Innis MacMullin, as well as the woman's 4x200m team consisting of Lily Wylie, Cate Majury, Megan King and Kelly MacInnis.

The Huskies are back in action on March 4th and 5th at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax competing at the Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Open.
