Elisha Delphin sets school triple jump record as Huskies compete in Athletics NS Open

Back in action at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax, the Huskies competed Friday and Saturday at the Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Club Championship, competing as a near full squad as the competitions ramp up with just over a month to go until the AUS Championships.

The highlight of the weekend was in Women's Triple Jump as rookie Elisha Delphin jumped to a new school record of 10.96m. This ranks her 3rd in the AUS rankings so far this season.

On the track, Chandler Zinck-Marier exploded out of the blocks in the Men's 60m to take the win in a new personal best time of 6.98, eclipsing the 7 second barrier for the first time. With his time, Zinck-Marier ranks 3rd in the AUS standings in the event. And he was not finished there.

The Men's 4x200m relay opened their season with a thrilling win, dipping the UPEI Panthers at the line in a time of 1:32.77, edging them out by .1 of a second. The relay team was made up of (in order ran): Noah Skeete, Liam Foley, Chandler Zinck-Marier, and Oliver Gavel.

Gavel also ran to a new personal best in the Men's 300m earlier that day (36.44), finishing 2nd overall.

Building off a personal best jump last weekend, Ciaran MacDonald jumped yet another personal best in the Men's Triple Jump with a 13.32m, ranking him 1st in the AUS rankings. MacDonald also jumped a personal best in the Long Jump with a 6.11m, finishing 5th.

Back on the track, 2nd year athlete Zack Kennedy stormed to a new personal best in the 1000m and 3rd place finish with a time of 2:33.38. This ranks Kennedy 4th in the AUS so far this season.

The Huskies are on the road as a full squad in two weeks' time as they travel to Saint John, NB to compete in the Athletics New Brunswick University Invitational, Jan. 30-31st.
