Huskies shutout Mounties 1-0

(Halifax, NS) In AUS women's hockey action, the Huskies finished off the first half of the regular season with a 1-0 win over the visiting Mt. Allison Mounties.

 

It was a slow offensive night for both teams with the only goal coming at 15:58 of the first period.  First year forward Shae Demale (Red Deer, AB) started and ended the scoring for the Huskies.  Alexa McMillan (Edmonton, AB) assisted on the goal. 

 

The Mounties only managed to get 2 shots in the first, compared to the Huskies 10. 

 

In the 2nd, MTA out shot SMU 7-5, but goalie Ashley Forler denied them of a goal. 

 

In the third, shots went back in forth with the Huskies getting four and the Mounties 5. 

 

Mounties goalie Kaitlin Mowbray turned away 19 shots and SMU's Ashley Forler stopped 13 shots on the night.

 

The Huskies enter the second term with a 9-6-1 record tied for third place in the AUS.  They face the Dalhousie Tigers on January 2nd at the Forum. 

 

The Mounties and Huskies face each other again on January 4th, when the Huskies travel to Sackville for a 7 p.m. game.
