U SPORTS Top 10 Tuesday (#24): First Saint Mary’s No.1 in school history

TORONTO (U SPORTS) – In the penultimate rankings of the season, the Saint Mary's Huskies are the new leaders in U SPORTS women's hockey for the first time in school history. It's also the first time an AUS team has reached the No. 1 spot in women's hockey history, which became a U SPORTS-sanctioned sport in 1997-98.

The Huskies (22-5-1 / 1-0 playoffs) moved into top spot after a 4-1 home victory over the UNB Reds (18-9-1 / 2-2 playoffs) in Game 1 of the best-of-three AUS semifinal on Saturday. Saint Mary's visits UNB for Game 2 on Tuesday night.

No. 4 Concordia (15-3-2 / 1-2 playoffs), who had held the No.1 spot since the second week of the season, fell from top spot after being upset by the No. 9 Montreal Carabins (9-6-5 / 2-1 playoffs) in three games.

In other U SPORTS rankings, Carleton (men's basketball), Saskatchewan (women's basketball) and Guelph (men's and women's track and field) retain the top position in the final rankings of the season, while UNB (men's hockey) and Trinity Western (men's and women's volleyball) remain at No.1 for another week.
