Panthers top Huskies 2-1

Panthers top Huskies 2-1

Halifax, October 3:  The Huskies, still searching for their first win, matched the Panthers stride for stride in the first few minutes of the game, with both teams trading chances.  The Huskies best chance came off a penalty kick in the 10th minute, but Andrea Daly's shot was stopped by UPEI keeper Ashley McKenna.

Morgan Geremia got the start in goal for the Huskies and was solid up until the 30th minute when a UPEI corner kick found its way to the back of the next to give the Panthers the lead.  Under 4 minutes later a foul by Daly inside the box gave UPEI a chance to add to their lead and UPEI forward Sarah Stanley made no mistake, making it 2-0 going into the half.
The Huskies came out firing after the break as Lindsay Millet hit the crossbar within the first 5 minutes, while the Huskies pushed the play into the Panther's zone.  In the 72nd minute Saint Mary's finally broke through as Millet fired one past the keeper to make it 2-1, but that was as close as the Huskies would come. With their frustration showing through at the end, Daly received her 2nd yellow card of the game, which resulted in an automatic red making it an even tougher loss for the Huskies.
