UPEI's four second-half goals beat SMU, 5-0

(Halifax, NS)--The UPEI Panthers scored four second-half goals en route to a 5-0 victory over the Saint Mary's at Huskies Stadium Sunday afternoon in AUS women's soccer action.

 

UPEI (2-4-0, 6points) led 1-0 at half on a 20th minute goal by Kristen Hood (Charlottetown, PE) with Cornwall,PE native Jennifer Balderston picking up the assist.

 

Hood scored her second goal in the 81st minute followed by Jade Bellemare (Shawinigan, QC) adding her first goal in the 83rd minute.

 

Balderston picked up her own goal in the 87th minute.

 

Jerika Gimpel (Alliston, ON) scored late in the 89th minute for the Panthers.

 

Port Coquitlam, BC native Amanda Stanyer (1-4-0) picked up the win in nets, making one save.

 

Dartmouth, NS native Ashley Blank (L, 0-3-0) made six saves for the Huskies who drop to 0-4-0.

 

Both teams hit the road September 30th with UPEI visiting Mount Allison (1-5-0 3pts) while Saint Mary's travels to Acadia (4-0-1 13pts).

 

Both games start at 5pm.
