Axewomen over Huskies 3-0

(HALIFAX, NS)—The Acadia Axewomen used two second-half goals to controll the Saint Mary's Huskies 3-0 Sunday afternoon in AUS women's soccer action from Huskies Stadium.

Stryker Jenna Boudreau (Halifax, NS) put Acadia on the board 1-0 in the 23rd minute when she took a Katie Ross (Bedford, NS) pass to her left and dribbled past a SMU defender and beat the SMU keeper.

Midfielder Alexandra Scovil (Hubley, NS) opened the second half scoring in the 57th minute when pounced on a save off a shot from the foot of defender Candace Conrad (Dartmouth, NS).

The Axewomen added their third goal in the 75th minute on a needle threading pass from Holly Buckler (Halifax, NS) which found its way thru the Huskies box to the foot of Jenna Howell (Dartmouth, NS) who tapped in her second goal of the season for a 3-0 lead.

Sarah Charnock (Newmarket, Ont.) grabbed the Acadia win with a save and improved her record to 4-1-1 on the year.

Ashely Blank (Dartmouth, NS) picked up the loss and made 13 saves for the Huskies.

Both teams return to action in two weeks versus the 3-1-3 StFX X-Women. Acadia travels to StFX October 14th for a 3pm match and the Huskies host the X-Women October 15th at 1 pm.
