Dalhousie/Saint Mary’s Cross Country Open
The Saint Mary's men and woman's cross country team begun their season this past Saturday with an exhibition meet co-hosted by Dalhousie University and Saint Mary's University. The women opened with a 5km race followed by a 6km race for the men. For the Saint Mary's woman, fourth year athlete Meghan Clark was led the Huskies covering the 5km race in a time of 20:51. Grace Barnhart showed her strength and determination by finishing close behind Clarke in a time of 21:05. Rylee Mezzaroba was the third Huskie across the finish line in a time of 22:15. Veteran runner, Colleen Wilson of Dalhousie University was the first place finisher covering the 5km race in a time of 18:31.
On the men's side, second year athlete Jonathan Peverill led the Huskies covering the 6km race in a time of 21:03. Teammate Corwin Trotter was close behind in a time of 21:09. Ian MacDonald rounded out the top three in a time of 22:43.
The Huskies will compete next at the St.F.X Invitational on Saturday, September 26th.
