Cross Country, SMU/DAL Invitational results

(Halifax, N.S.)- On Saturday, the Cross Country Huskies competed in their only home race of the season in Point Pleasant Park. Racing on Thanksgiving weekend, all the competitors were thankful to see the finish line in the unseasonably hot temperatures. The heat and pressure were on as the Huskies saw many key performers return from injuries.

            In the women's 6k race, Samantha Fader was first across the line for the Huskies in 25:59.00. Paige Roszak was second in 26:52.00, and Jessica Hinkka was third in 28:33.00 for the team. Georgina Beeden and Inga Rademaker rounded out the rest of the finishers for Saint Mary's.  The Women's Cross Country Huskies finished 5th out of 6 teams. Colleen Wilson of Dalhousie won the women's 6k race, and the Dalhousie Women claimed the team title.

            On the Men's side, Jonathan Peverill was the first Huskie to finish the 8k course in a time of 28:07. Returning from injury, Drew LeFrank was second for SMU in a time of 29:49. Christopher Lee was third in 30:02. Ian MacDonald and Stephen Goodyear also returned from injuries, putting in a solid effort in the heat. The Men's Cross Country Huskies were 6th out of 7 teams that competed. Cal DeWolfe of St. F.X. won the men's 8k race, while the St.F.X. men's team claimed the team title.

            The Cross Country Huskies race again next weekend in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The women race at 12pm and the men race at 12:45pm. The races will see the AUS teams host the RESQ conference teams in an interlock meet.
