Andrew Peverill grabs third place at Interlock meet

(Fredericton, NB) The AUS/RSEQ Interlock meet hosted by UNB/STU on Saturday and the Huskies performed well with the men placing 5thoverall as a team and the women placing 10th.

On the men's side, the Huskies were led by Andrew Peverill who finished in 3rdplace, covering the 8km race in a time of 25:28. Peverill made an early move to the front and set a fast pace. By halfway, he had separated himself from all but two runners of the field. In a close battle to finish, Jean-Simon Desgagnes of the Laval Rouge et Or would finish 1stin 25:14, followed by Angus Rawling of St.FX in 25:18, and then Peverill.

Following in Peverill for the Huskies was Jonathan Peverill, placing 41st (27:46). Joe Stewart and Stephen Goodyear, who each had breakout races, placed 52nd(28:22) and 55th(28:29) respectively. Kyle Caie placed 74thin 29:30, Ryan Fraccaro 79th(29:39), and Ian MacDonald 86th(29:59).

The SMU men placed 5thwith a total of 164 points, 3rdamong AUS universities. Laval Rouge et Or placed 1stwith 41 points.

 

The women's team was led by first year Bhreagh Burke who finished 41stin a time of 24:19 for the 6km race. Following her in for the Huskies was Paige Roszak, who continues to have a strong season, placed 59th(25:13). Sam Fader, in her first race back from injury, placed 89th(26:59). Solana Purdy placed 103rdin 28:12 and Emma Parsons 110th(29:05).

The Laval Rouge et Or swept the podium with Anne-Marie Comeau placing 1st(20:58), Jessy Lacourse 2nd(21:24), and Aurelie Dube-Lavoie 3rd(21:32).

The SMU women placed 10thwith a total of 285 points, 5thamong AUS universities. Laval Rouge et Or placed 1stwith 25 points.

 

The AUS season continues on October 13th with the Universite de Moncton Invitational.
