Huskies Fall to Sea-Hawks

The Memorial University Sea-Hawks fly into Halifax on a blustery Sunday afternoon for their second game of the weekend against the Saint Mary's Huskies. The Huskies last played Thursday evening, after earning their first point of the AUS season in a 0–0 draw against hometown rivals the Dalhousie Tigers.

In the 19th minute, Holly O'Neill (St. John's, NL) put the Sea-Hawks on the board with the first score of the match, her second of the season, by dashing past a hard charge from SMU's goalkeeper, Grace Morrison (Halifax, NS).

The second goal of the match, scored in the 35th minute, came off a low and hard corner from Lauren Taylor (St. John's, NL). Taylor's corner was hammered into the back of the net by Zoe Rowe (Conception Bay South, NL), for her second goal of the season.

The third goal of the game came from Claire Langille (Windsor Junction, NS), who ran through the middle of the Huskies defense, putting away the ball past Morrison with a right footed strike, and just inside the goal post, for the final score of the match, and their second goal of the season.

After 90 minutes of end-to-end action, the match ended in 3-0 victory for the Sea-Hawks. Memorial's Claire Langille earned Subway player of the game honors for their strong play.

Memorial (3-0-1) will have 5 days of rest before returning to action on Saturday where they face their second weekend of Nova Scotia school play, visiting Cape Breton, followed by a game against St.FX on Sunday.

Saint Mary's (0-1-3) play UPEI on Saturday, September 25, on the Island, where they have another chance for their first win of the season.
